Sand Bike Ride

Enjoying Bali’s beautiful beaches isn’t just about sunbathing and playing in the water. You need to try sand bike riding on the wide beach areas with your friends and partner. Many people have turned this into an alternative holiday activity if you’re bored with the usual ways of enjoying the beach. Your boredom with the beach, I’m sure, will disappear, and riding around the beach with an ATV will become a fun new hobby. What are the thrills, and how can you get this experience? We will discuss it fully here!

The Excitement of Sand Bike Riding on Bali’s Beaches

Sand bike riding is a challenging hobby worth trying. Generally, sand bike riding is done with trail motorcycles. The sandy and sometimes uneven beach roads due to the waves and footsteps are perfect for riding trail motorcycles for fun or light racing.

However, besides trail motorcycles, sandy beaches are also suitable for riding ATVs. But make sure the ATV used is a suitable vehicle, meaning it has good suspension for passing over uneven sandy roads.

However, using an ATV will not be as flexible as using a trail motorcycle. This is because ATVs have four wheels, making it more challenging to maneuver on the beach compared to the more agile trail motorcycles. Additionally, maneuvering with an ATV is more prone to tipping over, so most ATVs on the beach are used for leisurely rides and sightseeing.

That doesn’t mean that sand bike riding on the beach with an ATV isn’t fun. You will still experience the excitement and challenge of driving an ATV on sandy roads, sometimes making the wheels unable to move or bouncing over the sand dunes you pass.

Suitable Beaches for ATV Riding in Bali

There are several beautiful beaches in Bali that can be excellent and fun riding options. You can choose one or even try all the beaches we recommend.

1. Ubud

Sand Bike Ride

Ubud Beach is one of the best locations for ATV and trail motorcycle riding. Ubud is the best of the best because this location is already renowned and has its own value for ATV tourism. Not only beaches, but Ubud also has many ATV trails that are just as good as the beach. These trails include forests, rivers, waterfalls, caves, rice fields, and villages.

So, if you are interested or have a hobby of adventure and riding, Ubud can be your first destination and will definitely not disappoint you.

2. Canggu Beach

Canggu Beach is no less interesting than Ubud. While Ubud is more famous for its trails like forests, caves, rice fields, and others, Canggu is more known for its beaches. Canggu is indeed famous for its beautiful beaches and is one of the most popular beach tourism spots besides Kuta.

Canggu also offers ATV tours on the black sand beach. Additionally, you will be invited to see the beautiful beach scenery with Batu Bolong Temple located in the beach area, adding a unique impression to this beach. You will also traverse cliffs to view its beauty from above.

3. Kuta Beach

Kuta is a very famous beach in Bali. Kuta Beach is the most popular marine tourism destination in Bali and has been famous for years. This beach is also suitable for sand bike riding because it has a white sandy beach with a long coastline reaching up to 5 km. Additionally, Kuta Beach has clear seawater that invites tourists to enjoy playing in the water on the soft sandy beach.

Tips for Riding on Sandy Beaches

Riding on a sandy beach with either a trail motorcycle or an ATV is a challenging activity and may be slightly dangerous for some first-timers. However, it doesn’t mean that inexperienced people can’t try it. Here are some tips you need to know to ride on sand more safely.

1. Pay Attention to the Tires

ATV tires are considered safer for sandy tracks than trail motorcycle tires. This is because ATV tires are wider, whereas trail motorcycle tires are narrower. Although both are knobby, wider tires help the vehicle stay on top of the sand and not sink, especially on soft beach sand. Therefore, if riding a trail motorcycle, it’s better to choose wider tires with a size of 3 to 5 inches.

2. Avoid Sudden Turns

Sand Bike Ride

It’s important not to make sudden movements while on a sandy track. Sudden movements will make your vehicle unstable, and you could be thrown off. For ATVs, sudden movements could cause you to tip over, especially if the ATV tires get stuck in the sand.

3. Focus Your Attention

Always stay focused while sand bike riding. Pay attention to the sandy track ahead of you and choose the flat parts that support your movement. You can ride sand bikes while joking and chatting, but you must stay focused for your safety.

4. Maintain Your Speed

Sand Bike Ride

It’s also important to keep your vehicle at a safe speed. When you accelerate, stay focused and maintain your balance. If you feel the ATV you’re riding starts to wobble, reduce your speed. Additionally, if you’re not moving or moving too slowly on soft sandy roads, your vehicle could get stuck. Therefore, riding requires a sense of finding the right speed.
