Small streams or sub-watersheds that flow directly into the Ayung River are one of the sources of water to be able to keep the discharge always large. The waterfalls formed by the flow of water add to the beauty, as well as the water jumps between the beautiful cliffs along the river.

The upper reaches of the Ayung River consist of three fairly large tributaries, namely Tukad Bangkung, Tukad Menggani, and Tukad Siap. • Upstream Region: Ranges from the Penikit area in Petang sub-district in the north to the Kintamani area which is bounded by the Kintamani-Singaraja road and Plaga in Petang sub-district which is bounded by the hilly ridge of Puncak Mangu forest. The upper reaches of the Ayung watershed have a sloping to very steep topography.
  • Central Region: Ranges from the Penikit area in Petang sub-district in the south to Abiansemal. The central area has a flat to undulating topography.
